Our Team

Paul D’Angelo

I started D’Angelo Legal in 2007 solely to offer clients personalised service with someone whom they like, trust and can talk to. Today we have grown to a full-service law firm ensuring that we remain approachable at all times while providing cost-effective legal services to SME businesses and Mums and Dads.

As a well-established firm, we value the relationship with our clients and have ensured that our team consists of like-minded individuals who value the client relationship and recognise their needs are paramount and not transactional. Today our team culture ensures that we strive to help clients resolve their legal problems.

Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my family, boating, fishing and Kung Fu.

Kealeigh Barker

I have had the pleasure of working at D’Angelo Legal since I started as a Law Clerk in 2008, when we were just a small firm of 2. Today, I am a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of WA and the High Court of Australia. We are now a full service firm with currently 17 in our team. Being involved with the expansion has been exciting, while also creating my own personal and professional networks, which has been one of the best parts of my role.  I am passionate about the firm and its direction and by being given the opportunity to network and create lasting relationships with clients and referral partners, I am able to create trust in our ability to provide great advice and service.

I am the Head of Practice in General Commercial and this diverse area of practice encompasses a wide variety of clients; including business matters, wills and estates, property and business conveyancing and all related matters such as contract drafting and reviews.  My practice areas all relate to each other, which allows me to be the primary solicitor for most matters for my clients.  As we are a collaborative law firm, I also assist other divisions with their drafting and advice. I have had exposure to most practice areas that our clients require at D’Angelo Legal. I love to learn and the variety of the work I do, which is why I have stayed at D’Angelo Legal for so long.  It also helps that we are like a family and I truly enjoy coming to work each day.

Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my two young children and travelling.  We like to camp and caravan, as well as hike and head to the beach, and when I get to enjoy some child-free time I enjoy a nice glass of wine and head out with friends.  I believe I have a great work / life balance which makes me a better mum and a better lawyer.

I am Head of Litigation at D’Angelo Legal with some 25 years’ experience in the industry. Having practiced in various areas of law, including insurance law and commercial litigation, I founded my own firm, in partnership, from 1996 until 2004, when my family and I moved from South Africa to Australia. In 2006 I was admitted as a Barrister and Solicitor in the Supreme Courts of New South Wales and Western Australia.

I joined D’Angelo Legal in early 2019 where I continue to act in the Magistrates Court, District Court, Supreme Court and the Federal Court, including making Appeals to the full Federal Court and the High Court of Australia. I strive to provide practical, in depth and timely examinations of legal issues and reliable advice.

Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my family and beautiful Greyhound Tommi.  I am a board member of Greyhound Adoptions WA and a member of Rugby WA disciplinary tribunal.

Roger Lewis

With 18 years of experience as a lawyer in total, I have found my niche in employment law over the past 10 years. I adopt a solution-focussed approach to client’s employment law issues and disputes and when possible identify whether there is a simple, quick fix, or self-help suggestion that can be provided to a client, and early resolution where possible. Where matters are more complex, I am skilled at extracting the key points from the myriad of issues that arise between business owners and workers within the employment relationship.

I have acted as both Lawyer and Advocate for businesses in the Fair Work Commission, and the Federal Circuit Court, including acting for the Respondent Employer in successfully defending the Appeal to the Full Bench of the Fair Work Commission in the important “Labour Hire/ Frustration of Contract” case of Donald Pettifer v MODEC Management Services Pty Ltd [2016] FWCFB 5243.

Before the Fair Work Commission, I have also acted on behalf of employer’s in negotiation of enterprise bargaining agreements with various unions and have extensive experience in the conduct of unfair dismissal and general protections (adverse action) claims, most of which we have successfully managed to resolve at the conciliation stage.

Outside of work, I enjoy playing golf (poorly) and taking my children fishing.

Stephanie Powell

I graduated from Murdoch University (Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Arts, majoring in History) in 2013 and then completed the College of Law. I was admitted to the Supreme Court of Western Australia, in 2014. I am the Head of Family Law and joined the D’Angelo Legal team in 2019.

Since 2014 I have been working exclusively in the area of Family Law. I enjoy all areas of Family Law, though I take a particular interest in children’s matters, alternative dispute resolution and adult maintenance issues. I was honoured to be co-published in the Australian Journal of Family Law in 2014 and 2019 on the ‘guidelines for parenting disputes and coercive relocation orders’ (Australian Journal of Family Law & Legitimate guidelines, parenting disputes and the case of ‘coercive’ relocation orders).

I have completed my Masters in Family Law and Family Dispute Resolution and I am in the process of registration with the Attorney General’s office as a Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner.

My client’s often describe me as being being open, supportive and straight-forward in the advice I provide and the approach I take. This is because I take pride in providing high-quality legal services to my clients and help them reach their goals post-separation wherever possible.

I am also a member of the Legal Aid Family Law Practitioners panel that allows me to take on both private and Legal Aid clients.

In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my family and friends and also enjoy reading, listening to music and engaging in fitness activities. When I haven’t got my “lawyer hat” on I enjoy spending time with my daughter at, or near, the ocean.

Claire Fowler

My extensive legal experience has involved Plaintiff Personal Injury claims, including; Motor Vehicle Accidents, Workers’ Compensation, Public Liability, Product Liability, Medical Negligence, Criminal Injuries Compensation and TPD/Income Protection claims. Being able to advise, guide and assist injured people from start to finish through the claim process is extremely rewarding and I am always motivated to achieve the best result for every client.

Jess Vu

I started as a Law Clerk with D’Angelo Legal in June 2019. Since graduating from UWA, I work with the team at D’Angelo Legal as a Law Graduate and will be admitted in 2020 once I complete College of Law.

I work closely with Paul and Yung to provide support on their various matters. I began studying law because I wanted a profession where I was able to help people. I am interested in family law and migration law as I believe these are more personal areas of law where I can make a positive impact in my client’s lives.

In my spare time, I like to stay fit by playing touch football (or otherwise known as touch rugby). I have played in tournaments in New Zealand, Singapore and the USA.
